Walkie Talkie Series

Walkie talkie from fellow Pinoy Paul Baldonado is easily my favorite photography series ever. This series showcases Paul walking the streets of NYC and other major cities alongside a street photographer. In each video, Paul interviews the street photographer, highlighting their creative processes, all while they photograph their environment.

Paul brings forth great presentations on the process of street photography, while simultaneously displaying a diverse group of photographers’ perspectives on the world around them.

One of my favorite Walkie Talkie videos is of Melissa O’Shaughnessy. Melissa is a woman in her 60s with decades of photography experience under her belt. Needless to say, her artistic perspective is much different from that of 22-year-old me. In the video, Melissa states that she likes to take photos that are funny, but never make fun. It is because of this saying that I strongly pursue taking photos that bring people together in a positive manner.

I have many favorite Walkie Talkie videos as I’ve seen around 90% of them. However, I’ll probably go more in depth on specific ones in later curated content posts. For now, take a look at the Walkie Talkie playlist on YouTube and see if you can find your new favorite street photographer.
